Motorola i90c Special code help!!!?

Question asked by tipsu21
I just got a used Motorola i90c cell phone. I put my sim card in, and now the phone says "Enter Special Code Now." I don't know the code, and neither does the guy who gave it to me. Is there anyway I can get that off of the phone? Or do I type in random numbers until I finally get it right?
Well. That really wasn't what I wanted to hear Inuyasha... My card is from Cingular. So great. At least the phone was free. Thanks.

The "Special Code" is the subsidy code. The phone is locked to Nextel. If you are trying to use it with an iDEN provider other than Nextel(e.g. Boost Mobile or Southern LINC), then you need to unlock the phone before it will work. You would need to either call, Nextel's customer service, take it to a place that can unlock it(usually for a fee), look for a seller on eBay that offers an unlocking service for your phone, or look on eBay for a program that you can use to unlock it. If you decide to use a program, you will need a data cable for that phone, and you use it at your own risk.

If you are trying to use it with a GSM provider such as Cingular and T-Mobile, it will NOT work. Even if you get it unlocked it will not work with a GSM provider. While both use sim cards, iDEN and GSM are two different technologies and are not compatible with each other.
